How YOU can easily help the Police and our Nation and beyond...
Do you want to help the police?
Yes!
Almost all, maybe even all, of the men and women who joined the police departments or became law officers in some
other branch of civil service, did so because of a true desire to help. They wanted to make a difference!
Unfortunately, they stepped into a system that is flawed. Stopping crimes, criminals, is addressing the wrong problem.
Wrong because that is the wrong end of the cycle of crime and wrong because they do not improve the criminals. The
current system makes them worse, they become hardened criminals.
So what can you and I do about this?
A question for a question! When you see an officer of the law, they should be called “peace officers”, how do you
look at them? Do you think “Pig” or something else that's unkind?
When you see an officer coming up behind you in the rear view mirror, do you think “Awesome!” or do you think “Oh
shit” or something else equally profane?
I believe this would make a great survey. However, not having a survey and results, I can only look at the press
releases or PR of the various law enforcement agencies.
I can not think of any agency or group that has any type of an image, but a bad one! Most are worse than bad, they
are terrible! Ogres living off our taxes and harassing us or worse!
But lets go back to why they got into law enforcement, to do good, to help.
They set out to do that. Unfortunately, as they drive about they get sneers, gestures, disrespect!
As individuals, they don't deserve this treatment. Even though the “department” is criminal, most of the officers are
not.
Governments are not suppressive, only a few politicians are. It's the same with any group.
But it takes only a few leaders, bad apples, to ruin the whole group.
But what can we do about it?
A simple thing is to change our reaction to the presence of a cop, sheriff etc. They aren't all bad.
When we see an officer, treat him with politeness, respect. Treat them the way you want them to treat you! Try
smiling at them. Force yourself to smile!
If enough people smiled at the police, they might stop thinking we are all criminals! It's going to take some work.
If you happen to be a criminal, it's very hard to smile at someone who is about to catch you. So stop being like a
criminal! To be or not to be is a personal decision.
By the way, looking worried and looking like you have something to hide, that you don't belong, is a dead give-a-way
that you are a criminal. Try smiling! You might be able to change your life by honestly smiling!
We all need to try projecting perfection into everyone we see. Do this especially when you see someone who has
dedicated their lives to serve and protect, the cop.
Give them the same benefit they should give you: Innocent until proven guilty!
One more thing!
This works with everyone!
I'll give you a bit of data that you may not believe is true. Everyone you meet is doing the very best they can all the
time. Though this may seem questionable, it is true, because a person can only operate off the data that they have. If
they have incorrect data, they will do things that do not make sense and possibly create harm. But this isn't really
them and creating harm is likely not their intention.
So smile at the person passing you on the street!
How many times do you “not see” the other person? And if you do see them, do you disrespect them by ignoring their
presence?
Stop doing that and start conversations, or at least say hello or nod, or do something to acknowledge their presence.
Again, as you go through your day, wish perfection into everyone regardless of anything. Just know there is a
goodness there and your good wishes might help the goodness in that person win!
You are powerful!
You are powerful beyond belief. This is a fact despite the possibility that you have been fully convinced that you are
powerless. That's not true. Your wishes, prayers, actions to achieve good are powerful!
Were we not powerful, man would have already perished.
So help keep the human race going.
Spread some cheer, smile, start conversations.
