“C” Space

Introduction for the parents:

Hopefully you have kept up with Darma and his adventures. If not, feel free to access them in part on my website at Stories by Carl.

Information about the title:

“C” is the traditional letter used to represent the speed of light in formulas such as E=MC². (By the way, this simply means that the energy in a mass is
equal to the mass times the speed of light squared. This means an incredibly huge amount of energy in any solid object on an atomic level!”

“C” could also stand for Children. Children, with their imagination, can have “C” Space if they want to! Most of them have a vivid imagination and this
should be fostered and encouraged. Because this is the stuff dreams are made from and this is where the future comes from…Imagination! And our
children are the future! Let us hope they have a broad imagination to help solve the problems in the future!

"C" could stand for Created Space. “C” could also stand for Carl’s Space. There is some truth in this story. The children will probably see it. Will the
wiser, perhaps more serious, adult see it?

Write me and let me know what you thing “C” stands for.  This is the second chapter about "C Space"

“C” Space, Day 3

It was early Sunday morning. I always woke up early as there was so much to do and to see. I always wanted to do everything
and sleeping just seemed to shorten my day!

Yesterday, I discovered I could create a sheet of space with a hole in it! That was strange and exciting!

This was something I was going to have to figure out for myself before I told anybody about it, even George. George was my
little brother and one of my best friends. I didn’t thinks I would even tell Johnny and Sam and they are my other best friends!

So in case you forgot, yesterday, I was being really bored because it has been raining forever and I wasn’t allowed to go out
to play until some yesterday afternoon.

Because I was really wanting to do something, I decided to figure out a way to bring things to me!

So, yesterday morning, I was thinking about how to bring things to me like through a hole in space. I thought “A hole is space
is just a hole in space! It could be anywhere! Now I just needed to find one. After all what was space? It was just what I looked
through to see things! If I closed my eyes, there was no space. So therefore, space was what I created when I looked around!
It was so simple!”

So yesterday, I figured out how to create a sheet of space with four corners and a hole in the middle.

I tried putting my hand into the hole and it disappeared! Well this got me so excited and a little scared, that the sheet of space
disappeared and I had a hard time getting it back.

At first I thought I was dreaming! So I went and found mom. Nope, I wasn’t dreaming!

Then the sun came out and I went out and played!

I tried again last night and all that happened was that I fell asleep!

So I figured that today, I would really figure this thing out and how it worked.

But first thing to do is to go get some food. I’m starving!

I went into the kitchen. Mom wasn’t up and neither were my brother or sisters. No sign of dad so he was probably asleep too.

I climbed up on the chair and got down the cereal box and the big bag of sugar.

I poured a big bowl of cereal with LOTS of sugar and filled it up with milk. I don’t know why but the cereal always came
jumping over the sides of the bowl and I had to pick it up and put it back after I ate some. It was really good. The best part was
the sugar milk at the bottom. Well it was the best part if there wasn’t too much sugar then it got to be almost too sweet if you
can believe that!

After eating two bowls, I started back to my bedroom. George was coming out and asked me if I’d fix him some cereal too.
George could do it himself but he had to climb on the counters and mom didn’t like that. So I helped him and then went back
to the bedroom.

George would probably go play with our little sisters and I’d be free to make some space!

So I went to our room and lay down on the bed. I did exactly like I did yesterday. I closed my eyes and imagined a sheet of
space with a hole in it.

Yep! I could see it plain with my eyes closed. It was over by the end of the bed near the wall!

Well here was the next test………..I opened my eyes!  WOW! The sheet was right there!

I knew from yesterday that if I stuck my hand in the hole, it would disappear. I also knew I got so excited and scared that the
sheet disappeared too!

But today, I was ready and already knew what would happen so I wasn’t going to get so excited the sheet would vanish!

I got up and walked over to the sheet. There is was! Just hanging in thin air with nothing holding it up, perfectly still. And there
in the middle was a hole.

Well, now was as good of a time as any, so I slowly put one finger into the hole. And I could still see it!

So I put more of my hand in until it went out of sight behind the behind the edge of the hole.

I left it there for a minute and if felt like it always did, just sort of there. I move my fingers and they still worked.

I looked around to the other side of the sheet and there was nothing there!

So I pulled my hand out and everything was alright! Phew! Even knowing it was okay yesterday, it was still scary today!

For a couple minutes, I just stood there.  “Okay, let me try two hands and see what happens.”

So I put in both hands up to my shoulders. They felt fine and they could touch each other inside the hole.

Well, there was only one thing left to do! I knew I had to put my head into the hole and see what was there.

This was even scarier than putting my hands in!

I decided to do it! So I put my head into the hole to see what there was to see.

There was nothing! Just nothing! It was like I closed my eyes!

This was disappointing. I hoped to see something strange or weird. But I didn’t expect nothing.

I went back over to the bed to think this over.

I liked to do my thinking lying down. Trouble with that is I often fell asleep but sometimes that helped as I kind of figure things
out while I’m sleeping.

Sure enough after a couple seconds, I went to sleep with the question “why is there nothing inside the hole” on my mind.

I must have been tired or something cause the next thing I knew Mom was calling me to eat lunch. I’d slept all morning long!

Mom had fixed some meatloaf. It was good with the mashed potatoes and gravy!

I told mom “thank you” for the food. Sometimes I do that because I know she works hard to feed us and she likes it when I tell
her “thank you.” I headed back towards the bedroom.

Mom said, “Darma, are you okay, you spent all morning in your room and now you’re going back in there?”

I looked at mom. There she was worrying again over nothing. I figured I’d better go outside else she be coming in and taking
my temperature or something and I’d never get to figure out the hole in space thing.

“Naw Mom, I’m fine. I think I’ll go out and see what Johnny is doing today.” So I headed past the bedroom on out the front
door.

As I went outside, I noticed it was cloudy and almost hoped it would rain but then I realized it would really be fun to ride my
bike. I forgot about the hole in space and was off on my bike.

At evening, after I went out George came out and we all road our bikes. George was on my handle bars and Sam and Johnny
on their bikes. We went a long ways and decided to come home before it really did rain on us.

Besides, I was getting hungry again. Seemed like I was hungry most of the time!

When we got home, it was dinner time! Boy was I happy!

We ate and got ready for bed. Tomorrow was a school day….

I wasn’t looking forwarding to that.

As I lay down, Mom tucked George and me into bed. She turned off the light and closed the door. I told George good night but
he was already asleep, faster than the light went off!

So I started thinking about the hole in space. “Why was there nothing there?”

Just as I started to fall asleep, I knew the answer. There was nothing there because I didn’t put anything there. It was my
space, my hole and my nothing.

Next time, I’d have to put something there for the hole to go to! Like going out the back door went from the porch into the
yard. I needed to put a yard or something for the hole to go to!

And I was asleep.

The end.

To be continued. Email me if you'd like to see the next day's adventures.
