Ghost Walkers

COYOTES SLIPPING
SILENTLY
THROUGH MY NEIGHBOR’S
YARD
MY DOG
SENSES THEM…
AND RUNS
THROUGH THE HOUSE-
BACK AND FORTH-
YELLING OUT
HIS ALARM---FOR
I WOULD HAVE NEVER
NOTICED THEM.
SHAPE-SHIFTING
DISAPPEARING
REAPPEARING ELSEWHERE

UNTIL HE TAUGHT ME
TO SENSE THEM FIRST.

COYOTES SLIPPING MOCCASIN
SILENTLY
THROUGH MY NEIGHBOR’S
YARD
NO COLLARS OR DOG TAGS
TO MAKE A SOUND.
I’M LUCKY
THEY DON’T STILL CARRY
KNIVES AND  TOMAHAWKS
OR
MY NEIGHBORS
WOULD BLEED (TO DEATH)
IN THEIR BEDS.

Ghost Walker

I thought I'd stick a short poem from
Herbie on this page. So Here it is!

Today...
I missed
The sound
Of a woman
Walking barefoot
On wooden floors.
