New Adult Fantasy Novel Pursues Perilous Quest for Love
by L.D. Sledge follows a young wanderer's magical rescue
mission in an unknown land.
In the new fantasy novel Nimrod's Peril by L.D. Sledge, young wanderer Nimrod Woodbine risks
it all on the planet Chrysalis to rescue his pretty, human-size mouse companion, Musette,
revealing that true love can conquer all.
The most terrifying in Nimrod's quest is Musette's kidnapper, Nymphae, the ravenous queen of the island kingdom of
Eros. Nymphae has taken the lives of men that now line the standing coffins in her dungeon in order to maintain her
irresistible beauty for hundreds of years. If she is able to entice Nimrod to go to her of his own free will, Nimrod's
spiritual, virgin soul would make Nymphae immortal.
Sledge says the original idea of Nimrod's Peril began with a "little boy walking through a magic wood … in a land that
ended with a rim of clouds," and evolved from a bedtime story he told to his 3-year-old son, Jake, in 1984. "My son
Jake died at the age of 13 in 1994 when he was struck by a truck while riding a bicycle," says Sledge. "I so wish that I
could hand this book to Jake today. It is his book. I dedicate it to him." Nimrod's Peril has been called "unique as
fantasy" by Milt Tarver, who wrote a screenplay under the original working title, Musette. Tarver, according to Sledge,
believes the novel would be perfect as a movie, cartoon or video game.
Additional reviews say Nimrod's Peril is "light, happy and filled with oddities and adventures and likeable, unique
characters" and that Sledge "created a new language." For more information or to request a free review copy,
