| Reality Check, A Pointless Battle It was a windy overcast day I was standing on a bluff looking over the battle There was debris all the way to the bay I looked in vain but couldn’t find the farmer's cattle. It had been a pointless engagement One that never proves anything and leaves dead I thought briefly about troops needing encouragement Suddenly I felt a pointed impact on the back of my head. I felt the body spin The scene was not real Oh my god, this was the end! I watched my body collapse on the hill. I surveyed the scene again, All the blood gone out, the body sure looked dead I wanted to leave, a new life to begin A battle won, pointless, now I’m out of my head. But something held me back I struggled and strained, no use Out of my head, still seemed laying on my back It was then I awoke and saw my pillow abuse. This is not the first time I’ve recalled the past There are many memories of lives lived before Amusing memories, but good for nothing that last This true, I’m immortal, I could leave, see you no more. But that would leave you holding a lot of nightmares, Memories so vivid when played in the night That you could wake up in a fright, a daymare. I bring you this reality check, back to the light. I can show you it’s bright Don’t worry, there’s no hell Do you see it's daylight! Reality checks, I sell. ©2009 Carl Watts www.carlwattsartist.com |
