I’d been taking a break in deep space Just being, admiring the colors of stars Immense distances but little to me Boring of this, I looked for a new game There, a new planet not yet visited These were getting fewer and fewer Limited number of planets Unlimited span to time to visit them Fog-like I encircled the small mass Yes, life was there, well developed I needed a form, king of the hill type Ah, there was the species I searched though the specimens Standing tall and proud, a young male There, up in a tree, surveying his territory I perceived briefly, he was suitable I moved in and took control of the body For a moment, he was stunned, quiet Then he fought hard to regain control His ferocity caught me off guard Letting go of the tree We fell towards the ground below I moved out to avoid the impact Rapidly I moved back in to take control Quiet a shock, the arm was broken He was out, dazed with pain. I took this moment to subjugate him fully I contained the pain, mended the arm The arm was as good as new, strong But I seemed to still feel the pain The memory of the pain woke me in my bed, No longer was I beneath that tall tree I looked about my room for a reality check This had only been another glimpse of my past Now, I was back home again. |
