How I Promote a Page on Twitter

The process is very simple. You have to find something of interest that will fit into 140
characters and include a shortened URL. (Info on how to shorten URL on Twitter Basic page)
In most pages there is a huge amount of data. What I do is excerpt small amount that give
enough information to arouse curiosity or to create a mystery.
I'll give you a few actual examples of how I promoted the page “#AwesomeTeam Defined”.
As I read the article or poem, I manually posted to Twitter these tweets:
I then stored these Tweets on a document.
Twitter doesn't allow the entry of a duplicate Tweet (at least that's the rule). (Please refer to
Twitters rules here: http://help.twitter.com/forums/26257/entries/18311.)
But when my current group of Tweets being posted automatically by TweetAdder* runs out,
I edit the above tweets that I have accumulated. (Data on TweetAdder is given on my page Twitter
Advanced):
What I did was search for the key word “#KnowledgeIsPower” and replace it with the key
word “Info4U”. Update Jan2012: I also am changing the URL. Ping.fm's urls expire! You don't want to
tweet expired links.
I then import the accumulated Tweets into TweetAdder and turn TweetAdder back on.
It depends on how industrious I have been as to how many Tweets I accumulate and that
governs how rapidly I have TweetAdder posting for me.
This is how I promote nutritional articles as well as my articles and
poems.
It's a lot of work but it does generate traffic.
A few months later, you can take you accumulated tweets, make further changes and re-
import and tweet again. You can accumulate a lot of tweets!
I have found it wise to check the shortened URL before reimporting after any length of time
has passed. I've had URLs go bad and companies pages pulled or missing. You don't want to promote
blank pages! Since I wrote this, Twitter has started shortening URL automatically. So it appears you don't
need to shorten URL. I have to experiment with this some more but that's the way it looks and avoids the
step of using a shortening service. Update Jan2012: Twitter's URL shortening has been on and off at
least once so currently, I shorten all URLs before tweeting unless I'm tweeting manually and can see that
it going out!
